Welcome to Guiding in Kendal, where this worldwide organisation for girls and young women is very active.

Girlguiding UK is the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in the united kingdom.  Modern guiding aims to help girls and young women gain the confidence, skill and experiences necessay to broaden their horizons and reach for  new goals. We provide  a unique girl only apace which gives girls the chance to discuss issues such as body image and self esteem and to try out new activity's in a safe space where they grow in self confidence and have fun.  we promote equality and diversity.. were relevant to today's girls as our programme is girl led allowing members to choose favorite activities as well as broadening their experiences.  we give girls and young women a voice eg.  taking part in an annual survey issues currently affecting girls and then encouraging them to explain the findings to a wider audience.

To provide all this requires many adult leaders who give their time and talents voluntarily, but of course they also get great enjoyment from being with the girls.

As Guiding continues to be so popular, new leaders are always needed and a leader qualification enables any adult with or without previous guiding experience, to be trained for this role. A team of Commissioners and advisers gives continuing support to Unit Guiders.
